Resizing an open Dialog as it's content's change

Using the sharepoint dialog framework,  Is it possible to resize a dialog that is open when it's content changes?

The issue we currently have, is we have many layout pages we designed to open in a dialog that use our Custom Master Page.  When sharepoint open's them in a dialog and their content changes (like when a validation summary adds some error messages when you click OK on the dialog without entering in the required information) the dialog grows in height but the window stays the same size.

Ideally, I don't want to open the dialogs maximized, or to a fixed size.  I want to use autoSize but I want to resize the dialog window when the content's change.  I've googled this many times and haven't found anything that works.  It would be nice if there was method like "window.frameElement.autoSize()" I could call to resize the dialog.

I did notice the OOTB Dialog.Master page has a ton of javascript on it, and a method called onResize, not sure what that is for.  Should we be using dialog.master as the master page for our dialog pages instead of using our site master page?
