Hello Internet.
I have recently started working on creating Sequential Workflows for SharePoint 2010 using Visual Studio 2010. Because of my relative inexperience on the matter, it is possible I may have overlooked one small detail which is causing the issue I am experiencing.
To start off, I set up a SharePoint Foundation 2010 server on my computer to develop the custom workflow. This workflow is attached to a list on my development site which checks values in the list against values in another list and sends out a communication via email based upon how those values equate to each other.
After I fully built and tested the workflow in my test environment, I used Visual Studio to package the workflow into a .WSP file so that I can email it to our IT department to be deployed to the main SharePoint 2010 server. It is at this point that I am running into issues. Not matter which method of deployment we use (all of which deploy successfully), the workflow is not available for selection when attempting to assign it to a list on my SharePoint site.
Incase it is important, our IT department have tried the following methods to deploy my .WSP file to the server.
- Activating and Globally Publishing the .WSP file after it was placed in the solutions directory of the SharePoint site it will be used on.
- Used stsadm.exe to add the solution to the server then deploying and activating it using the Central Administration.
Using both of these methods, IT was able to successfully deploy the workflow, but it is still not available for selection when attempting to add the workflow to a List. This leads me to believe that I must have done something wrong when creating the workflow in Visual Studio, but I just have no idea.
Does anyone out there have an idea as to what the cause may be or perhaps a place I can go to find the answer? If you need any further details, please let me what it is you would like to know.
