SharePoint 2010 Incoming Email "Automatic" Mode

Hi,

I am setting the incoming mail for my SharePoint 2010 farm.  The scenerio will be implemented in intranet scope. The email will be received from the Exchange server for that we have created one Email ID.

After creation of Email ID we have configured SMTP service on SharePoint instance which resides in same intranet. The Central Administration we also configured with "Automatic" Mode with all default setting applied. i selected "No" for create contacts and distribution groups.

Now we are testing email sent from email clients and those email are not received to the Drop Folder which is configured by SMTP of my SharePoint instance.

The question here are as below.

Do i need to create SMTP Connectors at exchange to forward my emails to SMTP of SharePoint instance?

I have referred the planning incoming email sheet also but there is no specific information found there related to this.
