Internal links not working in Announcements

Hello all,

I am having a problem with Share Point 2013 that I think someone can expain what I am doing wrong. I am trying to put a link to a network drive in an Announcement. If the network drive location is\\server\folder\ , then I would use the following in the Announcement:file://server/folder/ , the Try Link works correctly, but once I save the Announcement, the link just gives me an I-bar and is un-clickable.

Do you know what simple mistake I have made?
