Split the large content database (650 GB) for single site colllection into multiple site collections

Hi All,

we have a huge site collection. the content database size is 650GB(MOSS),

we want to split single site collection into multiple site collections.

first how to approach step by step.

if we split the single site collection into multiple site collections, may it break any dependencies between sites..?

how can we identify what are sites having dependency in site collection(is there any way to find stsadm command or any third part tool ).
