Despite grouping by "Month," each expanded group shows ALL Months

This used to work, with SP2010, but for some reason now, despite the fact that I have all records grouped by year, and then by month, default collapsed...

when I expand any particular month, it shows ALL records, not just that month.

So, for June, it may show next to the collapsed june (6) for 6 records, which is correct...

Once you expand June, it shows ALL records for EVERY month.

Is this a sharepoint bug?  What to do?  It used to work fine.

UPDATE:

This seems to occur when you enable inline editing for the view.

Changing style to "default" seems to fix it, but it's ugly=)
