Freeze header row and first column in a list (non-Designer)

I'm looking for a way to freeze the top row (column headers) and first column in my list view, as we can do in Excel.

Key limitation: We cannot use SP Designer (ever, under any circumstances). Our options are limited to code in a Content Editor Webpart.

I did see this article on copying a JQuery script to do this:

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/18056.sharepoint-2010-freeze-header-row-of-sharepoint-list-view.aspx

But the crucial customization info is missing: "The above script uses a table as variable which is using the list GUID and the View ID, so you have to update this portion of the script as per your list."

I'm guessing that this means I need to replace some of the gibberish in the script ('list ID' and "view ID"?) with gibberish relevant to my particular list, but there's no information on which chunks of information to replace or where to find the correct values. Any thoughts?
